Veteran & Junior World Championship News

Congratulations are in order to Sean Ellor I Degree on his selection for the forthcoming Veteran & Junior World Championships to be held in Kashtent, Uzebekistan in September of this year.

This is the second time that a student of ManchesterTKD has been selected for this junior honour, the first being Mr Anthony Thomas now III Degree.

Instructors, Black belts & students would like to congratulate Sean on his achievement and wish him all the success at these Championships.

School Closure Date

Unfortunately ManchesterTKD School will be close on Thursday the 10th of July due to a college open evening.

Normal training will resume on Tuesday the 15th of July @ 1830hrs.

Scottish Open Championship Results

ManchesterTKD have once again achieved medals at the latest National Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Held at Kelvin Hall Saturday the 21st of June 2008.

Junior Blackbelt 13-17yrs old Connor Jones recieved the Gold Medal in Sparring 48kg

Junior Blackbelt 13-17 yrs old Sean Ellor achieved Silver medal in Sparring 75kgs & Bronze Medal Junior Ist Degree Pattern

Junior Bluebelts Katie & Tom Foxcroft also achieved medals

Katie Foxcroft Bluebelt Sparring and Pattern Bronze medals

Tom Foxcroft Junior Special Technique Bronze Medal

Well done to all of the Participants from the Instructors and students of ManchesterTKD.

Mr Johnnie Chan IV Degree HuddersfieldTKD achieved Gold Medal Sparring Senior -85kg.

European Championships Update

Congratulations are in order to both Connor Jones I Degree (ManchesterTKD) & Mr Johnnie Chan IV Degree (HuddersfieldTKD) on their achievements at the European Championships in Porec, Croatia.

Connor Jones put in a strong performance in both individual junior Pattern & Sparring, with progression to the second round of pattern in only his 1st European Championships. He was narrowly beaten in his sparring bout by the experienced Slovenian Competitor after suffering a knockdown. Unfortunately, there were no medals this time for Connor but watch this space!!

Mr Johnnie Chan unfortunately lost to Greenland in the 1st round of Individual Senior IV Degree patterns, but this is no disgrace as were sure many of you are aware that the Greenland competitor achieved a Silver medal at the last World Championships.

Mr Chan went on to achieve a second round spot in the -85kg Individual Sparring class by beating an Italian competitor and narrowly missed out on a Bronze medal having been beaten by the Scottish competitor.

However, there was some success for Mr Chan in the Male Senior Team events England achieved Silver Medal in Power Test & a Bronze Medal in Pattern.

School Closure Date

Unfortunately Manchestertkd School will be closed on Thursday the 12th of June 2008 due to both Mr WP. Rose V Degree Chief Instructor & Mr FM. Lopez IV Degree Assistant Instructor work shifts.

The School will be open the following Tuesday the 17th of June as normal.
